McDaniel High School - School Climate Plan

  • Dear McDaniel High School Parents, Guardians, and Community members,

By clicking the links, you can find information on the current McDaniel H.S. Discipline and Student Support Plan and Portland Public Schools’ Student Responsibilities, Rights, and Discipline Handbook.

The current Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook can be found in multiple languages on the following page:  Portland Public Schools: Policies Handbooks and Guidelines.

The District is collaborating with the Portland Association of Teachers to update this document to align with recent changes in State Law (SB 553). All schools are concurrently engaged in a process of creating school specific School Climate Plan Handbooks in collaboration with staff, students, families, and community partners to meet the unique needs of each school community.

Our School Climate Team (SCT) has been working with students, staff, families, and the community to create 4-5 school wide values. Our new School Climate Plan (SCP) will be created based on these school values and expectations and implemented in the 2016-17 school year. Our SCP will be taught by all teachers, posted in everyone's classrooms, and around the school in hallways and offices.

If you would like to participate in the survey to identify our values, here is the link: .  You may also print out the survey, write your feedback and send it to Mr. Skyles at askyles@pps.net.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and contributing to our shared community values that are the foundation of our School Climate Plan.

Sincerely, McDaniel High School Climate Team
