Ayesha Coning is the principal and senior grade administrator at Ida B. Wells High School. With over 25 years in the game, Coning says,“... [it is] all about the kids.” Her interest in education stems in large part from her immense love of history. Coning taught high school history classes for 10 years before becoming an administrator. Being a school leader, the well-being of students and connection to them are her motivation to do right by herself and the IBW community. If she wasn’t in education, Coning would be an international photojournalist, a job where she would get to travel the world and continue empowering people's voices.
