Marie Pearson Teaches various Visual Arts. She has been working at Ida B. Wells for 13 years and in education for 18. Previously, she worked at Neil Armstrong Middle School in Forest Grove, Lake Oswego High School, and McKay High School as a temporary teacher. Ms. Pearson was born in Minnesota and grew up in South Dakota. She then went back to Minnesota where she got herself an art history and BFA degree. Ms. Pearson's favorite part of teaching art is getting to meet new people. “In school I loved being in the art studio,” says Pearson. “That's the place that felt like home, it's the place I felt more like myself.” Ms. Pearson is a person who loves seeing progress, so art to her is the perfect thing that would show it. Also, Ms. Pearson sees progress with her outside school activities such as climbing, weightlifting, hiking, swimming, and even handstand balancing.
