PAT Staffing & Layoff Information for 2024-2025 School Year

  • 2024-25 PAT Staffing Update + Layoff Process

    May 13, 2024

    Educators,

We are writing today to provide an update on the staffing process and share an overview of the layoff process.

The internal round has concluded. Educators eligible for the internal round (prob 3, contract, unassigned) who expressed interest in known positions were considered for transfer. Those who were selected to transfer to another position, either during the job fair or through the interest form, have been notified of their transfer. If you did not receive a call, you were not selected for a transfer this year.

Unassigned educators have been notified of their assignment for the 2024-25 school year in the content areas listed below. If you are an unassigned educator in this content area and you have not been contacted about your assignment for next year, please reach out to the assigned to your school:

    • Academic Interventionist (school and central), School-Based Instructional Coach

    • Advanced Math, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies

    • Central Positions: Early Literacy, Mentor Teacher, Rapid Response, TOSA

    • ELD/ESL

    • Elementary Classroom

    • Immersion - all languages

    • PE/Health

    • QMHP, Social Worker

    • Music

    • Special Education

If you are an unassigned educator in world language Japanese, Mandarin, or Spanish - we thank you for your ongoing patience as we continue to work with schools, their schedules and number of sections taught in each content area to identify assignments for next year. We hope to notify you by the end of this week or early next week of assignments or next steps.

Unfortunately, the district will be moving into the layoff process in several content areas. Following Article 20 of the PPS-PAT Collective Bargaining Agreement, the process begins by offering the option for educators who are assigned to teach in a layoff area to request a leave of absence. Should enough educators request a leave of absence in a specific content area, layoffs may be avoided. If there are not enough leave of absences requested/approved in a layoff content area, Human Resources will begin the bumping process.

Beginning tomorrow, May 14 educators assigned to teach in the following content areas will receive information regarding the leave of absence option:

    • Art, Dance, Drama

    • BCBA

    • Counselor

    • CTE Bio Tech, Business Marketing

    • Teacher-Librarian

    • World Language French

We will continue to do our best to provide you with accurate information as it is available through this process. Visit below for layoff related FAQs. Please take care of yourselves and support your colleagues during this difficult time.
