Katie Parnell has been working at Ida B. Wells since April 2023 as campus safety. Before working as Campus Safety, she worked as a manager for an Amazon warehouse. She was inspired to work at Ida B. Wells because her husband had worked as campus safety for West Sylvan Middle School. He thought it would be a great job for her, considering her love for working with kids. Parnell was born in Sitka, Alaska and grew up in Duluth, Minnesota. In the future, Parnell plans on being a mom, and she has been thinking of getting a masters' degree to be a counselor. Outside of work, Parnell enjoys watching movies, baking, cooking, and reading. “Always treat others the way you would like to be treated. If everybody in the world followed that we would live in such a better place,” Parnell says.
