This is my second school year at Woodmere SUN and fifth year working in the SUN Community Schools with PPS. I can tell from my brief time here at Woodmere Elementary that this is an amazing place to be. When I grew up in Springfield, Oregon, I always thought I would work with kids, but didn't know other ways to do that besides being a teacher. Throughout my college career, I was trying to explore other avenues of serving kids, LGBTQIA+ folks, and underserved and neglected communities. I found that at Warner Pacific College and graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work. Then I found the SUN Program at Impact NW and loved how they can serve families directly and get to hang out with kids after school. Best of both worlds!

When I am off the clock, I love spending time at the bouldering gym, knitting and crocheting with a good show or eating food from every corner of Portland. If you ever need a delicious food recommendation, I got you! Being from Oregon, I love Portland where we are only an hour or so from the mountains or the coast. Some of my best memories as a grade schooler were my trips with friends and family to the coast where I actually was brave enough to swim in the Pacific Ocean. Can you believe it?!

Very excited for this new school year! To learn, hang out with the Woodmere community and have lots of fun! If you have questions about SUN, you can reach out via kwells@impactnw.org or text/call 503.734.5423 or you can find the SUN team in the SUN office/Rm. 1.
